Zane and Mira are fantastic together. Mira’s blunt and no-nonsense attitude is exactly what Zane needs to keep him from running all over her. As a last-minute choice, she is the perfect nanny for his newly discovered young son. Not only is she able to empathize with the trauma his son has experienced, but Mira is also a calming constant in Zane’s role as a father. 

But, there’s a reason why Mira understands what Zane’s son has been through. Unfortunately, it’s a reason she can’t keep hidden much longer.

Adriana ~ We were alone against an enemy who knew too much about us.

Tristian’s inexperience shows in nearly every decision he makes. He is next in live to take over the Callahan crime syndicate. An alliance with the Orsini family would solidify their power base. The confusion and indecision Tristian and Adriana exhibit is reflected in their immaturity. While Tristian wants to protect Adriana and step into a leadership role, his lack of resources and experience is glaringly obvious.  

Illicit Throne is a great beginning to the Callahan and Orisini alliance. I look forward to Tristian and Adriana’s uneasy truce as they are forced to rely on each other to grow up fast.

The tension continues to build between Enzo and Kennedy. They are meant to be together if they can trust and forgive each other. I love witnessing Enzo’s transformation from the supposed psychopath his uncle has tried to force him to become. Unwilling to be manipulated into giving in to his uncle’s sick demands, Enzo must decide how far he is willing to go to protect Kennedy; and how much of himself he is willing to sacrifice to free his sister and his brothers.
