I love these dominant alpha heroes that Sybil creates. Reading her books, I feel like I'm following Gretel as she drops hints of breadcrumbs for me to gobble up. Although Phoenix can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading Sybil's work from the beginning. Several of my favorite characters make appearances. Plus, I wouldn't want to miss any hidden gems.

At least that's Rachel Swift's opinion when her battered old Jeep breaks down just outside Bliss. The sweet old guy who gives her a lift into town not only is hunting Aliens, but also points her in the direction of a new job at the local diner.

Running from an abusive stalker, Rachel is wary of getting too close to anyone in town. She's focused on working, saving as much of her hard earned money, and trying to stay safe while living out of her car. Max Harper won't let a little thing like his temper get in the way of the sparks of desire that seem to simmer between him and the new waitress in town. Even as Rachel tries to cut a wide path around his brother, the Sheriff, Max refuses to let a little thing like her past get in their way.

It will take all of Max's charm and Rye's patience to convince Rachel to give the three of them a real chance at a forever kind of love. I really enjoyed their dynamic, especially Rachel's slow intro into a menage. This definitely added more to the relationship as they each needed to discover what they wanted from one another. The town was electric and fun, especially the town's festival and the introduction to two new sexy cowboys! Kitty Bang and Lee Samuels brought each character and the town's quirks to life. Their individual personalities shined through.

Bridget's stories are so unique. I love the creative way she brings two characters together. Definitely a sexy twist on the usual tropes. Her storylines don't just skim the surface. Fast-paced, she gets right into what motivates her characters. Her novellas are insta-quick and her style is insta-love with a touch of flannel!

💍 I propositioned him to be my fake date, not to star in some backwoods version of "Fifty Shades of Flannel." 🌲

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Insta-Love and Insta-Heat. Ryker is the guy to do the wrong thing for all the right reasons. Fiercely protective of the wolves that have made his forest their home, he is determined to secure funding that will keep them safe. When he sees an opportunity to meet with a potential investor, he can't pass up this once in a lifetime chance. What Ryker doesn't realize is accepting Autumn's proposal might just put him and his wolves in grave danger.

His protective instincts are on full display when Calle is threatened. Sawyer won't let anyone stand in his way when it comes to claiming Calle, not even himself.

💖 And that's what scares me most. Not that he's so much older, or that he intimidates me. But that if I let myself need him, even a little, I might never want to stop.

🏒 Bash never forgot Lainey. But he did keep his distance as long as possible. Seeing Lainey with another guy who isn’t nearly worthy of her pushes Bash to make his move. 

I loved how Lainey's research career is an important part of who she is, and that Bash is completely supportive.

💖 This is the 1st time I’ve read one of Victoria Jayne’s books. And, what a great start. Rodeo Rivals is a quick, easy read. I loved diving right into McKayla and Wyatt’s story.

🐴 With Wyatt’s return to the rodeo competition circuit and McKayla’s professional debut, this was a fantastic story that challenges them on a personal and professional level. I love the way McKayla has chosen a non-traditional role of becoming a rough bronc rider in a male dominated environment. Thrilled to see her going after her dreams!

Lou has such an incredible capacity for caring, for putting other people first, that she will almost always set what she needs or wants aside.

I was in a constant state of anxiety for this woman, who had once been content to let her twin take the spotlight, is now suddenly shoved into center stage. Lou brings out all my emotions as she struggles to hold on to the only dream she believes she’ll ever have. While others find love and romance, Lou has her beloved inn, the guests she takes care of, and her very eclectic family. But Wade, observant and discerning, can see the real Lou that she tries to hide behind her constantly effervescent twin.

Caroline Easton is a new author for me. And, I will definitely add her books to my TBR list. Even though I started with the 3rd book in the series, there are enough details that Maya and Owen’s story unfolds seamlessly. What I loved about this book, aside from being set in England, was the phraseology, in that I could almost hear the characters, their voices, phrasing, and diction as I read. There’s a depth of experiences, emotions from both Maya and Owen. And, I love how Owen is attracted to Maya’s strength, her fears, and that she doesn’t have to be perfect…she just has to be real.

I love the Taggarts. They are the ultimate spy family that just keeps growing, adopting wayward agents along the way. Zachary Reed is one of the lucky ones. While seemingly working both sides, Zach's main goal is to protect the ones he loves. Unfortunately, the odds are forever stacked against him, and he usually has both hands tied behind his back. Taking down a dangerous criminal will put their family and friends at risk. But Zach and Devi are willing to do what it takes to finally end it, even learning who they are and who they want to be to each other along the way.

This fifth book is a great edition full of love and emotion, drama, turmoil, and adventure. The suspense keeps the pages turning, and the spice turns up the heat. Humor and sarcasm give the characters realism that makes me want to be a part of their expanding group of friends and lovers.

I started reading VM Rheault’s King’s Crossing series with the first book in the series, Cruel Fate. Gage and his sister Zarah almost inadvertently uncover heinous crimes involving the murder of their parents. The intricacy of the series maintains its grip, keeping me reading and turning the pages!

Gage ~ When Zarah had her breakdown, I thought we were over. But I’m tenacious. I’m not giving up on her that easily, not even when someone blows up my truck as a warning to stay away.

Zarah ~ is in a battle for her sanity. Discordant, disjointed memories bring to light a shocking discovery of abuse. But it’s more than just Zarah’s imprisonment at Quiet Meadows that is threatening her and Gage.

After reading Shattered Hearts, I was left wrecked and devastated for Gage and Zarah. Falling into Zarah’s world by mistake, Gage and his father are a steady, constant foundation with which Zane, Zarah, and Stella can find some stability. These two characters deliver pages of sexu@l banter and a record amount of heat. I absolutely love the way Beck demonstrates his growing love for Mia. It’s in the many little things he does for her, like watching out for her at a party. She may not realize it yet, but Beck has been hers for a very long time. Beck just needs her to put him first like no one has ever done for him before. Kelsey Navarro and James Anderson Foster are wonderful as Mia and Beck. I felt like I was with Mia in her desire to be the best daughter for her distant parents, even as Beck struggles with his own place in his family as well as his need to protect Mia.

🖇 The word forever flickers through my head. I’m not ready to go there quite yet, but I’m not too far from it either. In the back of my mind, it’s always been Mia. No other girl has ever come close to making me feel what she does.

Dane is sexy, charming, and with rock-hard abs. Layla is an irresistible girl with so many rules and boundaries to keep people in their place, which is far away from her heart. So, Dane seems like her perfect match, just another player and only in it for the fun. Until he falls first.

Hannah delivers an incredible story full of college fun, friends, and camaraderie. Beyond that, her characters reveal the depth of their emotions, going through painful experiences. College life isn’t always just about the pranks, sleeping late, and wearing fuzzy slippers to class. It’s real life and Hannah brings out those highs and lows. Elizabeth Hart and Thomas Oakley are incredible in their portrayal of Layla and Dane. I felt like I was with Layla in her determination to keep her shields high; even as Dane struggled to repair his relationship with his twin brother.

I love the suspense she immerses her characters into, which continues to build until the end. In all the suspense and drama, Lexi sprinkles in moments of light and humor, making her characters even more engaging.

🔧Popping the Clutch is a sweet read. Full of slow-burning humorous innuendos. While forced proximity and a fake relationship are the excuse to bring Dyson and Callie together, they were always meant to be a couple. There’s a lot more to Dyson than just his car show. That comes through in the way that he thinks about Callie. 

🔧She’s more than just a walking advertisement for her brother’s CarTube channel. “How did she learn everything, and what else did she know? I planned to plunder her mind like I plundered her b%dy.” He is also completely supportive in helping her get her own show up and running. 

🔧Getting to know Dyson’s family was a fun experience. I especially like the way the women not so subtly keep pushing Dyson and Callie together. However, Dyson’s cousin needs to be disowned.

Emily Sutton-Smith as the voice of Tracy Crosswhite continues to draw me in and keep me listening. I appreciate the logical and methodical way Tracy approaches her cases. There is just enough emotion in her depiction that I feel as if I’m part of the investigation with Tracy, Dan, and her partner, Kinsington Rowe. I love Tracy’s unique approach to her cases, as well as her quick wit, which borders just inside the lines of sarcasm, especially when verbally sparring with Johnny Nolasco.

“I’m always the one doing the caretaking, never the one receiving the care. It felt good to just let go of everything in his arms, even if it was only for a minute.” ~ That is absolutely Alice. She is the caretaker, giving up so much of her time and life to make sure her brother and her parents, especially her ailing father, are well cared for. She works basically non-stop, fulfilling her boss’s every whim, including lavender-infused glass-bottled boutique water and carefully prepared sushi.

After choking in the final of the series, Minnesota Mammoth’s team captain, Dalton isn’t necessarily looking for romance. But he agrees to appear in a reality TV show to increase publicity for the NHL. He wasn’t looking for anything special until he saw Alice.

While Alice is overly busy taking care of her superstar boss, Dalton realizes that it is Alice’s turn to have someone care for her. And Dalton is determined to be that man. I love these two together. While Alice is used to putting herself last in almost every aspect of her life, it’s Dalton who recognizes this and encourages Alice to step up for herself. This is an incredible read, and I truly enjoyed seeing Alice allow herself the time and the energy to be herself. As someone who usually puts others first, I love how Dalton sees who Alice is. That he is the man who will love and support her, however she needs.

A legal mistake has given accused killer Erik Schmidt a chance at revenge, deliberately maneuvering Tracy into a final duel.

Another fantastic narration by Emily Sutton-Smith. Her portrayal of Tracy Crosswhite is heartfelt and yet at the same time, gives Tracy the right amount of logical process in the way her detective mind works. The introduction of Lydia helps to heal the wounds left behind by the truth of Sarah’s murder. I love the detail put into Lydia’s character, how she helps Tracy reconcile a part of her past, and moves her forward with her husband Dan and their daughter.

Where Enzo was a slow burn drawing Kennedy Mullvain to their inner sanctum; Riley and Dante are an inferno, burning up everything they touch, including themselves.

He always knew his life would change. He just never thought she would be the reason.

This is the first time I’ve tried Jolie Dunn. And, Faking the Shot was a wonderful read! I have never read a book that includes Polo. But I’m glad I picked this as my first one. Jolie did a seamless job of weaving the intricacies of the sport with the storyline. Beyond that, her characters felt real.

Maggie and Jack are friends from childhood, so it is no surprise that benefits would eventually follow. And, Maggie’s surprise pregnancy isn’t a surprise either because friends with benefits usually aren’t foolproof. What is a beautiful surprise is the journey that both Maggie and Jack take to find their happiness together. 

The fear, the uncertainty in their futures, the brave way these two come together, devoting themselves to a fresh start and a commitment to be the best parents despite their childhood examples, is at first commendable. Their initial obligation to their baby, of course, is not necessarily to each other, yet though Jack is careful with Maggie, making sure that she and the baby have what they need. 

Once Jack and Maggie got their footing, I enjoyed seeing them grow into each other as well as discovering the best parts of themselves. At times, it was wrenching as they separately experienced the fear and panic of not only becoming parents, but coming to the realization that they are not their parents, and that they truly do love and trust one another.

🏒 This is the first time I’ve tried Jennifer Sucevic. And, Never Your Girl was fantastic! I loved the sarcastic banter between Holland and Bridger. While it was a lot of fun, the emotions these two went through to get to their HEA were wrenching. Even though this is part of the Western Wildcats Hockey series, it can stand alone…however, I can’t wait to go back to the beginning so I can get to know the friends that Bridger and Holland call family.

📱 Struggling to make ends meet, take care of her irresponsible mother, and get through school, Holland has her work as a dancer and her focus on graduating to have a better life. Bridger has other goals. He needs to graduate and get away from his abusive father. Hockey and his business degree are his way to move on. But with relentless text messaging, Bridger’s stress level ratchets up more and more with each notification. 

🎧 I enjoyed Angelina and Grayson’s narration. They were both incredible, giving the character unique voices. I felt like I was right in the middle, cheering for Bridger on the ice and celebrating Holland’s success.

I’m thrilled that the adventure continues! It’s super exciting to see the Guardian kids growing up and taking their place within Guardian Security. A true Legacy. And Ronan does not disappoint. Kris Michaels has such a phenomenal way of writing, keeping the characters real, unique, and relevant. Narrator Matt Haynes delivers another fantastic performance.

To save Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in her refugee camp, including women and children, Fleur is so desperate to get just one more convoy to safety that she’ll risk her own life. When it seems that there is nowhere else to turn, and the human traffickers are just a fence line away, Ronan and the Panther Team will do whatever it takes…as long as it takes to keep Fleur’s camp safe.

Mallory and Joel are perfect together. Although Mallory has pulled away from an emotionally damaging relationship, she is still uncertain about her own self-worth. She doesn’t recognize how brave she is by starting over in a new town with a new job. It’s Joel who eventually draws Mallory into another new chapter of her life. With patience and understanding, plus a great sense of humor, they get their HEA.

Claire does an excellent job portraying these characters. I can literally feel Mallory's nervousness as she tries to shake off the self-consciousness that plagues her thoughts and decisions. Her tone and pacing even change as Mallory grows more confident in her life, in her new job, and with Joel.

The Librarian and the Mechanic is the second in the Dash of Desire set. It is a standalone. I hope you enjoy!
