L.A. Hart is also best best-selling author Lane Hart. I’m most familiar with Lane’s steamy/dark romances from The Savage Kings MC and NYC Dark Mafia series. My first read of her L.A. work was Beg for Mercy out of the Mercy Academy series. And, WOW! What an incredible storyline. 

🏒 For Revenge Puck, it’s a delightful rom-com. Its rocky foundation for Preston and Elle is based on a total lie. They each, for very different reasons, want revenge on their nemesis - Christian Riley.

THE RESULTS ARE IN: Preston’s st🏒ck is bigger than Christian’s!

🏒 What starts as just a little fun, quickly spirals into something deeper than anyone expected. Between Preston’s fear of being abandoned first and Elle’s determination never to be hurt again, there seems to a lot going on to keep them apart. Not to mention the fact that they live in different cities. Or that Preston might be traded at the end of the playoff season. Throw in a misguided, jealous ex-best friend, and tensions are higher than ever.

I started reading VM Rheault’s King’s Crossing series with the first book in the series, Cruel Fate. Gage and his sister Zarah almost inadvertently uncover heinous crimes involving the murder of their parents. The intricacy of the series maintains its grip, keeping me reading and turning the pages! Aside from that, I feel for these characters. The sacrifices both Stella and Zarah make, the suffering they have endured, bind them together with a bond stronger than…Family. Loyalty. Trust.

Gage ~ Ashton Black shot and killed my half-brother Max, and in his will, he left me everything he owned, plus one serious request—protect Zarah Maddox.

Where Stella is sunshine, Zarah is night. Stella’s blonde hair, her bright blue eyes, they are perfect opposites to Zarah’s pitch black hair and dark eyes. It’s no wonder Ashton Black wanted both of them: perfect bookends.

Technically not an interconnected book, I would recommend reading the first in the series (Deadly Strain) to understand the ongoing threat level. I enjoyed Sophia’s straightforward and determined approach to stop this new biological threat. Despite her failing health, Sophia’s greatest hope is to make a difference. Connor is her perfect match. Probably because he is the youngest with four older sisters! A man who is willing to listen, support his partner, and challenge his partner at the same time is a keeper!

Lethal Game is the 2nd in this three-part series. Sophia and Connor’s mission is more treacherous than they would’ve anticipated. While investigating an unknown infectious disease outbreak, they realize Sophia has been marked as a high-value asset. The enemy is aware of Sophia’s unique medical qualifications, making her the perfect scientist to create the next epic pandemic.

From the very beginning, Connor will need to put his personal demons aside in order to commit to his assignment to keep Sophia safe, guarding her while she works to identify an unknown but deadly pathogen. Falling in love had never been part of the mission…

This must be my month for new authors ~ and Laura is FANTASTIC! I was completely invested in Beatrice and Logan’s story. There were so many heartwarming parts of their journey. But what I loved most was that even at their lowest point, they refused to give up on each other. 

Incredibly, through it all, Logan is a consistent presence in Bea’s life. He falls first. And, they both make sacrifices to become successful ~ Logan becoming a pro-hockey player and Bea starting her own interior design business. But what really made the biggest impact for me was how Bea takes control of her recovery, taking her time to discover who she is and what she wants out of this new life she finds herself experiencing.

There were some very emotional moments in their story. It left me brokenhearted at one point as I could completely sympathize with the trauma Bea and Logan went through with all the doctors, the tests, and waiting every month, only to be utterly disappointed. 

📚 Favorite Moments:

💋 Painting has been my refuge and my escape. The studio is the one place where I exist in the moment instead of digging up my past or worrying about my future. I peek from behind the canvas to find his tall form in a Mavericks hoodie and jeans.

Lane does it again! And it keeps getting better!! This book is on fire with the amount of angst and drama from the beginning. Definitely a page-turner, keeping me on the edge of my seat as Zara’s actions inadvertently set in motion a deep betrayal. 

Creed will have to use everything and everyone loyal to him to discover the traitor while attempting to keep Zara and her secrets safe. Creed, the Mafia Capo de Capi (King of Kings) faces the challenge of a lifetime and the other Four Families of NYC. Along the way, he has a uncanny knack for collecting women, nannies, a kid, and a would-be robber.

This is the first time I’ve read Julie’s work. And, I’m so glad I did! Deadly Strain is an incredible read. It’s fast-paced and full of intense situations. With a new deadly strain of an infectious chemical along with a potential traitor in their ranks, Grace will be challenged to overcome her past to find the real terrorist. She will also need to reconcile the feelings she’s developed for “Sharp” her Special Forces bodyguard.

This is the first time I’ve read Samantha’s work. Taschen is a quick read full of action. I particularly loved how sensitive Taschen is to Sephie’s situation. Even though she’s a former child star, Taschen treats the threats against her and her fears as legitimate concerns. While Taschen is former military, now part of Backcountry Protection Services with his best friends, and very much a protective hero, Sephie is also a strong woman. In spite of the tragic history that brings them together, Sephie proves herself willing to sacrifice for those she loves.
