This is the first time I’ve read Samantha’s work. Taschen is a quick read full of action. I particularly loved how sensitive Taschen is to Sephie’s situation. Even though she’s a former child star, Taschen treats the threats against her and her fears as legitimate concerns. While Taschen is former military, now part of Backcountry Protection Services with his best friends, and very much a protective hero, Sephie is also a strong woman. In spite of the tragic history that brings them together, Sephie proves herself willing to sacrifice for those she loves.

💖 Beth and Seamus 💖

This is the first time I’ve read Sarah’s work and the first time I’ve read a cozy-mystery. I liked the odd mix of magical and non-magical beings in Spirit Town. There was a real sense of community organization, working together to bring a resolution to the unfortunate incidents wreaking chaos on their quaint little town. 

Centered around a crowded dinner, the town comes together to support Beth Harriott, who is their new Mayor. She and Seamus renew their friendship, reigniting a simmering love. Together with their closest friends and wise old Agnes, they’ll uncover a decades-old secret.

You returned home, you helped save our town’s festival, you uncovered a corrupt council, nominated as mayor and fought for all our residents, against powerful forces.

💖 Brax and Iris 💖

I’ve been a longtime fan of Chelle Bliss and the Gallo family. I love the way the Gallo family instantly welcomes Iris into their midst. Brax is so patient and understanding, putting Iris and her fears before his own desires. He is everything that Iris’s former fiancé is not. And thank goodness! Because he is open with his feelings even while Iris is afraid to make herself that vulnerable again.

Even while dealing with the devastating betrayal of the man she thought she loved sends Iris into a self-imposed dry-spell, her two friends are wickedly sweet and so much fun! Their banter and positive influence are the reason Brax and Iris unexpectedly meet. 

🎨 “It’s time to stop grieving what could’ve been and start getting excited about what will be.”

Want is a slow-burn of attraction, love, and patience. A true demonstration of how love can selflessly flourish. Another fantastic addition to the expansive Gallo family. And, Brax wants to share it all with Iris…forever… the neighborhood bar with its good-natured regulars, old Irish gangsters, and a fantastic Italian grandmother whose eggplant parm is the absolute best.

🫦 Highlights:

🦖 I really like Brax. Even though his name sounds like a dinosaur, Braxasaurus-Rex has my belly flipping out of lust, not fear.

🎨 Finding your forever isn’t always easy. Hell, it doesn’t happen for everyone. But I have a feeling my future is next to me, and I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her there.

🦖 We’ve dealt with men like Malakai our entire lives, and all that matters is that you are safe from here on out.

The tension between the three rachets higher and higher as Warrick increases the heat of their attractions. Be prepared for a taste of the taboo as Sera and Aiden edge closer to their desires. 😈

🎪 This close, I can count the freckles on her nose. I can walk the rolling hills in her green eyes.

⛓️ Definitely read the author’s note. It’s sincere and impactful, making this book an emotional ride that is both thrilling and heartbreaking. It left me wrecked at times, crying as I related to the circumstances affecting Kala. In only one moment, a singular fateful decision, life can change, leaving a damage that can never be undone. Kala is a complex person, honest in her approach to life, decisions, her family, and friends. While Kala claims to be an emotionless, task-orientated person, choosing not to feel, she actually experiences the deepest well of feelings, giving her a unique insight into the people she loves most. 

⛓️ As described by his family, Cooper is the typical Captain American popular guy. Athletic and good-looking, he is sometimes more involved with proving himself to the crowd than thinking about how he is with his closest friends. Cooper is at his best and worst when it comes to his love for Kala. While they are both maturing, it’s natural to hurt each other, make mistakes, break up. And come back together, because they are irrevocably tied to each other with a love that’s deeper than all the conflict around them. 

⛓️ Kala is the one Cooper will never walk away from. He will never give up on having Kala in his life — forever — even if there have to be daisies. I love the sweet tenderness and vulnerability of daisies.

🫦 Highlights:

He could see the split second when her heart had broken.

Kala was like flying sometimes. He had to get a feel for the air around her, find the good streams that swept them along, and know when turbulence was going to batter them.

He wanted to reach for her hand so she would know she wasn’t alone. So he would know he wasn’t alone.

⌚️ I loved reading their story! There is such honesty and truth in Brian. It pairs well with Jules’ wit and sarcasm. And, of course, everyone needs a crazy-chaotic friend like Taylor.

I’ve never felt anything like this in my life. He’s everywhere, filling me up until I’m drowning in him—mind, body and soul. It’s too much and not enough all at once.
