Another first read for me. Everly Claire creates an environment that is remarkably similar to our current society, but with a clear distinction between the wealthy and the unfortunate citizens who have been forced into servitude. Louisa and the Boy represent these two separate parts of their society. The evolution of the two main characters intensifies as they come closer to understanding each other, the accepted injustices they face, and the heinous acts that lie beneath the richest parts of society.

⛓️ The relationship between Lou and the Boy continues in a forced proximity situation as he functions as her tutor. For him, it’s an opportunity to take advantage of Lou and her family. The Boy considers himself a master manipulator, using his intelligence to help him locate his missing sister. Everything he’s done is in the hopes of finding her. 

⛓️ It is ultimately Lou’s growing relationship with him that elevates her understanding of the world beyond her fluffy pink pillows and effortless existence. Lou begins to see the injustice that those forced to serve the wealthy endure.

Another first read for me. And, I’m glad I added Bridget Adrienne to my favorite authors list. Ranger’s Obsession is a fast read novella, taking about 2 hours to read. It’s perfect for a quick pick-up. Passions collide for Logan and Rylee at their first encounter and keep building throughout as they get caught up in an unexpected storm, their spiraling emotions, and each other. 

🥾 Along with their immediate attraction, Logan is all in to prove how much he loves Rylee. Even though she’s at a low point in her life, unable to find a job after being let go from her dream job, Logan repeatedly demonstrates his commitment to their future.

This is the first time I’ve read Melissa Foster. And, if I could give this book more than 5 stars, believe me I would! I stayed up late reading this book as I was completely invested in Juliette and Seeley, hoping they could make it back to each other. 

The way Melissa introduces Lucas as a teenager made me smile because she is spot-on regarding their fluctuating attitudes. In addition to learning his father isn’t who he thought he was, his grandfather’s betrayal, and a particularly devastating health issue, Lucas' emotions hit some very low points that absolutely break my heart. But with the love and support of his new family and friends, they come together and come back to each other even stronger than before. 

Melissa has such a way of creating a beautiful backdrop for Redemption Ranch that I felt I was already a part of the Whiskey family. It reminded me so much of my hometown that I’m ready to pack my bags. I’ve already started reading the first in the series (The Trouble with Whiskey) and can’t wait to read all about Birdie’s story in My Whiskey Redemption #6.

I can literally feel Kennedy’s distress as she tries to keep herself and her sister from getting too involved with the D’Angelos. And Enzo sends shivers in all the right places.

The narrators continue to be incredible. I feel like I’m right there with Enzo and Kennedy. It's fantastic the way Patrick gives Enzo such a distinct and commanding voice. His humor and frustrations are pure Enzo in equal measure. Some of the best scenes involve Enzo and Truffles, Kennedy's little heroic mutt. For me, this is where Enzo's more gentle personality comes inking through, just enough that I can't help but love this formidable mafia prince.

🐾 “I have a dog. It has clothes. Despite keeping my distance from everyone, I have a touchy-feely soft side. One that you fxxkxrs wouldn’t know anything about.”

🐾 “Look, Toto, I don’t care how attached Kennedy is to you. Get off my lap before I have you made into smoking slippers.”

The intrigue and heat continue in the continuation of Kennedy and Enzo’s story. They are like watching fireworks in the sky, burning bright. Kennedy’s unbreakable spirit is completely engaging. Kennedy is not like the other women who typically throw themselves at Enzo. She is so strong and independent that I’m sure Enzo isn’t quite sure what to make of her. While he continues to struggle with his duty to the D’Angelo family as well as his insatiable attraction to Kennedy, a viscous power struggle continues between Enzo and his uncle who is suspected of causing his father’s disappearance. Then, there’s the issue of who brutally attacked his sister.

💋 Kennedy and Enzo are walking a very slippery slope of danger and attraction. Enjoy their explosive relationship.

This is the first time I’ve read Vee Taylor. Her content note was heartfelt and gave me a sense of understanding of what to expect from her characters. I appreciated the insight into Auburn, as her insecurities are the main focal point of her journey. Recovery and/or healing isn’t a straight line, and oftentimes can be chaotic, even confusing. I felt that in reading this. It can also be a very private matter, so Austin’s naiveté is plausible because he didn’t have any idea what had happened to his mom when she was in high school. Ledger’s solid presence was exactly what both Auburn and Austin needed.

L.A. Hart is also best best-selling author Lane Hart. I’m most familiar with Lane’s steamy/dark romances from The Savage Kings MC and NYC Dark Mafia series. My first read of her L.A. work was Beg for Mercy out of the Mercy Academy series. And, WOW! What an incredible storyline. 

🏒 For Revenge Puck, it’s a delightful rom-com. Its rocky foundation for Preston and Elle is based on a total lie. They each, for very different reasons, want revenge on their nemesis - Christian Riley.

THE RESULTS ARE IN: Preston’s st🏒ck is bigger than Christian’s!

🏒 What starts as just a little fun, quickly spirals into something deeper than anyone expected. Between Preston’s fear of being abandoned first and Elle’s determination never to be hurt again, there seems to a lot going on to keep them apart. Not to mention the fact that they live in different cities. Or that Preston might be traded at the end of the playoff season. Throw in a misguided, jealous ex-best friend, and tensions are higher than ever.
