Review: Beg for Mercy

Beg for Mercy Beg for Mercy by L.A. Hart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Maddie: "You may take everything in your life for granted, but I don’t."

Beg for Mercy is Maddie and Aric's story. They are enemies to lovers with snarky banter, snide comebacks, and cocky attitudes. This book is outstanding! Lane is a fantastic writer and I always love to read her work.

Maddie and Aric couldn't be any more different. The classic girl from the poor side of town refusing to back down to the wealthy popular crowd at the private school. On scholarship, Maddie is immediately singled out, always made to feel less than her classmates. Instead of allowing herself to be intimated by the rich kids, Maddie fights for her right to be at Mercy, to protect her family, and to make something better of herself than her worthless parents.

For his part, Aric is the typical jock/bully always ready to point out Maddie's shortcomings. But the more time he is forced to spend with Maddie, the more he is exposed to the stark realities of her existence. He's never had to worry about paying for anything he wants, not even the utilities. Aric has never looked at life the way Maddie does. Her determination, her strength gives him the courage to examine the direction of his own life.

It's the bet they made though that has them becoming reluctant partners, friends, and eventually trusting each other enough to fall in love. I hope you love Maddie's and Aric's story as much as I did!
